Content Notes Newsletter - Issue No. 4 - You DO Know What You're Talking About

Published over 3 years ago • 3 min read

Hey y'all!

I hope you had a productive week and have some good stuff in the works to round out the last half of January.

This week has been an introspective one for me, but also a focused one. The busier I get, the more I'm realizing just how important time blocking, time management and being ruthless about my own efficiency and the way I work has become. For a long time I've considered myself a multi-tasker, but I see more and more that there's no such thing. Working on more than one task at once, just means you're paying half attention to all of them, and the result will be half as powerful as it would be with full focus.

So, in other words: Laser in. Dig in. Put your effort toward the tasks that matter most and stay in the moment.

You DO Know What You're Talking About

There's a disturbing trend I've seen on social media lately - well, not so lately - of trolls coming out of the woodwork to give their $.02 on people's posts they see as vulnerable. Particularly people who are just getting started out with content creation, and working to find their voice.

Because of these trolls, there are some potentially powerful voices out there that are being stifled.

I'll say one thing: You DO know what you're talking about. All of us have unique experiences that inform our lives. We live through transformational arcs that define who we are. And we speak from these experiences with confidence and insight. Never, ever let others tell you that you don't know what you're talking about.

You absolutely DO. Be powerful and speak your truth.

This Day is So Full of Promise!

A few days ago my wife and I were walking around the neighborhood park with our pup, and this adorable little girl came up to us.

Probably about 8 or 9. Complimented us on Lu saying, "It's amazing how beautiful all of these dogs are here. Whether they're pure breed or a mix they're so pretty."Also tells us about her frisbee and a club she wants to start, saying:

"This day is so full of promise!" From there, she disappears into the playground equipment holding her frisbee.

I hope she had a great day. It really stuck with me.

Seems like all of us need to take the time to see the world as she does, and realize just how right she is.
Things are hardly perfect and it may seem cliche, but there's something for which all of us can be thankful.

Every day is full of promise, whether we acknowledge the promise or not.

Be thankful for your grind.
Be thankful for the passions that drive you daily.
Be thankful for the opportunity that this platform provides.

Today is the day.

Be Nice

That's it. Not complicated. In a world that's so devisive and full of tension, choose to be nice.

It makes everyone's lives easier, including your own.

The Leap Frog Collective Podcast is Picking Up Steam

The Leap Frog Collective Podcast got off to a fantastic start with Nick Bennett as our inaugural guest last week, and the momentum continued this week with Stephen G. Pope as our guest.

Stephen and I discussed:

* Whether or not he's a New Year's Resolution guy
* His approach to goal setting and reverse engineering his results
* How he sets expectations with his clients
* The state of content marketing pre and post-COVID
* Why community building is worth the effort
* His personal branding mantra
* What you shouldn't do as you dig into building a brand
* His personal engagement patterns on LinkedIn
* His thoughts on the shiny new object, Clubhouse

Camille Trent will be my guest on Friday the 22nd!

The LFC Podcast is available on all the major podcasting platforms, with a new episode publishing every Friday. Find it on your favorite and subscribe!

I Guess Clubhouse is Interesting. Kind Of.

I guess Clubhouse isn't so bad. I've had some fun conversations there over the past week and have even hosted a few rooms.

I have one invite available, in fact, if anyone wants to jump on, let me know! If you're there, hit me up and we'll chat or maybe even host some rooms together.

Let's have a kick ass week y'all! Full steam ahead!

Kris

Happy February y'all (well close enough)! I hope you had a great finish to the month and some powerful momentum working in your favor heading deeper in 2021. I came out from the shadows in a few ways this week, and it was nerve-wracking. The irony is, though, when you're willing to take that risk it can lead to some very interesting results. Don't Be Afraid to Tell Your Story, the Full Story, Not the Edited Version I put together a monster slide deck to share with folks on LinkedIn a few...

Happy Sunday y'all! I hope you had an awesome week and have some powerful content and work on tap to round out January and build momentum going into February. This month has been impactful. The currency it's built isn't necessarily the green type, but I'd say it's more important: relationship currency. I talk all the time about the importance of compounding returns, and that seems to be paying off finally. When you nurture relationships of all types with folks you care about most, the return...

Happy (?) 2021 everyone! Yeah I know that seems a little odd. But we haven't totally left 2020 in the rearview yet, right? I'm NOT a big New Year's Resolution guy. Seems like to me, they're primarily made to fail. At least in my case. I've made a ton in the past (almost all of which have been broken). Instead, I'm adopting a personal mantra for 2021: ACT. DO. That simple. Nothing more complex. When in doubt ACT. DO. Most of my content this week has been along these lines. It's Time to Be...
